Decoding “Midjourney Gratis”: How to Navigate AI Art Without Breaking the Bank

When it comes to artificial intelligence image generators, Midjourney sits comfortably at the top of the mountain. Known for its breathtaking photorealism, distinct painterly styles, and cinematic lighting, it’s the go-to tool for digital artists, students, and creators.

However, if you search the web for terms like “midjourney gratis” (Spanish/Portuguese/German for “Midjourney free”), you quickly hit a roadblock. Let’s look at the reality of Midjourney’s pricing, what “gratis” options actually exist, and how you can experiment with AI art safely and affordably.

1. Is Midjourney Still Free? The Short Answer

No, the main Midjourney platform on Discord and midjourney.com does not have a permanent free tier or trial.

Back in the day, new users were welcomed with a batch of free trial generations. However, due to overwhelming demand and system strain, those general trials were paused. Today, unlocking the full power of the core Midjourney engine requires a paid monthly subscription.

2. Official and Alternative Ways to Get a “Gratis” Fix

Even though the main desktop version is paid, you can still test out Midjourney-powered tech or alternative high-end generators without opening your wallet.

Option A: The Niji·Journey Mobile App

If you love anime, manga, or stylized character art, there is a legal workaround.

• What it is: Niji·Journey is an official companion app created in partnership with Midjourney, specifically tuned for anime aesthetics.
• The “Gratis” Perk: Downloading the Niji·Journey app on iOS or Android often grants new accounts a limited batch of free generations (typically around 20 free images) to test out the engine without a credit card.

Option B: Explore Completely Free Alternatives

If you want robust image generation without a paywall, several open-source or freemium tools rival Midjourney’s visual quality:

• Flux (by Black Forest Labs): Created by the original minds behind Stable Diffusion, Flux handles complex text prompts and realistic textures exceptionally well. You can access it for free via various web platforms and community interfaces.
• Leonardo.ai or Adobe Firefly: These platforms offer generous daily free credits, making them fantastic playgrounds for rendering game assets, concept art, and digital illustrations.
• Bing Image Creator (Microsoft Designer): Powered by DALL-E 3, this is entirely free to use with a Microsoft account and excels at understanding detailed, conversational prompts.

3. A Word of Caution: Avoiding Scams

Because terms like “Midjourney gratis” or “Midjourney free account generator” are heavily searched, scammers frequently target users.

• Avoid “Crack” or “Generator” Sites: Websites claiming to offer free cracked premium cookies, password generators, or unlimited hacked Midjourney accounts are almost always phishing traps or malware carriers.
• Stick to Official Channels: Only download companion apps from official app stores (Apple App Store or Google Play) and stick to trusted platforms when exploring free AI models.

Final Thoughts

While you cannot use the core desktop version of Midjourney indefinitely for zero cost, dipping your toes into the ecosystem via the Niji app or experimenting with powerful free alternatives like Flux and Leonardo will give you plenty of room to build your digital art skills.
